Nexus One superphone unveiled by Google

Calling it their “superphone,” Google unveiled the Nexus One on Tuesday, marking the online search giant’s first leap into the smartphone market.

The phone, which goes head to head with Apple’s darling of the market, the iPhone, is sold only through a Web store operated by Google and, unlike the iPhone and most other current smartphones, is available either with or without mobile service.

Consumer Electronics Show Tablets TV phones among first Gadgets

The 2010 Consumer Electronics Show doesn’t officially kick off until Thursday, but some forthcoming gadgets, including tablet-like wireless devices and phones that can show live TV, are already getting buzz here.

Hundreds of tech journalists packed a hotel ballroom Tuesday night for sneak peeks at dozens of new products, some of which won’t hit stores for months. The crowds were thickest around such hot gadgets as 3-D TVs, although quirkier devices, such as a radar gun that can fit in your pocket, got some love, too.

LG Skinny Flat-Screen TV

The South Korean electronics manufacturer unveiled a television Wednesday that is less than 7 millimeters thick.

The product, which is so new it doesn’t have a name, was brought on stage briefly during an LG press event at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. It looked to be not much thicker than a piece of posterboard.

The future of television arrived in New Jersey today as Verizon announced that its industry-leading FiOS television service is now available to consumers in 106 communities in the state, with more soon to come.
Verizon’s FiOS TV Premier package delivers 200 all-digital channels for $42.99 per month. The package includes more than 20 high-definition (HD) channels in the New Jersey market and access to more than 4,000 on-demand titles, 60 percent of which are free.
