I'm assuming that it means…
That the character who said that quote wished that they had a different person guarding them. They also wished that that person wasn't as strong as whoever their current guardian is. The reason? Probably some kind of social conflict with the other character.
A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriends cat (who is usually very intelligent) threw herself at the wall in an attempt to grab the reflection off of my watch. She came sliding down the wall barely missed hitting his hard drive and instead slid between it and the wall. She just shook herself, and climbed back up to find the reflection again. Cats….
